Ocean Power for a Sustainable Future

Wave Energy is a Better Renewable Energy

Waves are always available 24/7. The sun is up only half the day, and that's if it's not cloudy. Wind is hard to predict and may provide a lot of energy one day while no energy another.

Consistent
Doesn't take up Land

Solar panels and windmills take up land that can be used for other purposes, such as housing or just more room for plants and animals. The ocean covers 70% of the Earth, meaning there is plenty of room for ocean energy to be harvested.

Energy in a wave

A full wave has approximately 45 kWh of energy when the wave is 2 m high and has a length of 14 m when breaking along 2 km of coastline.

High Potential

Underinvestment

The majority of all investments in renewable energy go to solar and wind. Marine or ocean energy usually gets near 0% of investments. The sliver that makes up investment in ocean energy is barely visible in the graph on the right, and yet each wave holds such great amounts of energy and potential. A major reason for the lack of investment is because it is not as well known. If you find renewable ocean energy to be interesting, then tell your friends and family about it to help spread awareness!
